ROSENTHAL ART NOUVEAU FIGURINE BY FERDINAND LIEBERMANN
a wonderful whimsical figural group of a seated nude boy and his frisky monkey friend;
the monkey is balancing itself on the boy's arm and playing with his hair.
The model was designed by Ferdinand Liebermann for Rosenthal in 1910 and was titled "Lausige Geschichte" (Lousy Story).
This figurine was made in c. 1920.

Rare Rosenthal Porcelain Group
'DIANA' by Gerhard Schliepstein, c.1935
a superbly crafted highly stylized blanc de chine porcelain group of Diana, the huntress and her greyhound considered to be one of the best examples of Rosenthal's Art Deco output. This modern interpretation of the well-known classical subject is a work of famous Gerhard Schliepstein who designed the group in 1933-34.
Background information: Gerhard Schliepstein (1886-1963) was one of the most highly regarded German sculptors of the first half of the twentieth century. He created a great number of models for Rosenthal and K.P.M, some of his porcelain models were also cast in bronze. His work is instantly recognizable for its stylization and he is considered as a true Modernist of the Art Deco period.
This is a large imposing group measuring 22.5 cm (9" ) high by 32 cm (12 3/4") long.
