A Hand Painted KPM Porcelain Plate

Decorated by Ambrosius Lamm , c. 1890

 

On offer here is this quite outstanding KPM  Porcelain plaque beautifully hand painted, gilded and jewelled by Ambrosius Lamm – Dresden, with a double portrait of black and a white horses in a landscape.

The portrait panel is framed by a band of fine gilt scroll work and jewelling on a white groundand the deep blue, outer rim is further gilded with a delicate geometric band.

Contained within a carved wood and gilded Gesso frame contemporary to the period.

 10 inches/ 25.3 cm in diameter (without the frame)

Vienna Style Hutschenreuther Portrait Plate    from The Gallery of Beauties
of Ludwig I of Bavaria, 1914

 

A superior quality, early Hutschenreuther porcelain hand painted, superbly
gilded and jewelled portrait plate, depicting the early 19th C., Munich beauty Auguste Strobl. 

The Gallery of Beauties (Schönheitengalerie) is a collection of 36 portraits of the most beautiful women from the nobility and middle classes of Munich, Germany, painted between 1827 and 1850 (mostly by Joseph Karl Stieler, appointed court painter in 1820) and gathered by Ludwig of Bavaria in the south pavilion of his Nymphenburg Palace in Munich.

Auguste Strobl’s was the first painting commissioned and the finely painted
example in the center well of this plate is a faithful rendition of the original.

Dresden/Vienna Style Framed Portrait Plate of Napoleon Bonaparte, c.1890

 

Fabulous antique porcelain portrait plate depicting Napoleon Bonaparte in military dress uniform and wearing the cross and Grand Eagle of the Légion d'Honneur (Napoleon's own decorations were captured by the Prussians and were displayed in the Zeughaus (armory), in Berlin until 1945. Today, they are in Moscow, Russia). This portrait is of particularly high quality as is the gilding and
enamelling of the surrounding border of the plate.

This quite superb painting executed in the manner of the English pre-Raphaelite school offering an original rendition of the classical theme of the birth of Venus (Aphrodite) emerging from the sea.

after Friedrich Paul Thumann (1834 - 1908)

 

On offer here is this quite superb Royal Vienna hand painted plaque.
The opulently gilded and jeweled maroon enamelled border frames a hand painted Arcadian scene of a seated youth as artist painting a classical urn. He is dressed in the manner of the ancient Greeks or Romans and seated within a crumbling ruin, a fair Maid, standing in the doorway, admiring and musing over his skills and efforts.

Marked to the reverse at center, with a blue beehive mark for Royal Vienna and titled in gold script:
'Kunst Bringt Gunst'
