Rare Large Meissen Empire Period Chocolate Pot
'Views of Dresden & Moritzburg Castle C.1815'

 

On offer here then is this wonderful Meissen porcelain Chocolate Pot from the Empire period.

It is beautifully hand painted with a topographic view of Moritzburg castle to one side
and Dresden Castle to the opposite side. Each is framed within a richly gilded
rococco reserve, on a white ground with scattered posies of summer flowers.
Additional rich gilding to the spout, angular handle, rims, base and lid.

To the base is applied an Antiquarian's paper label for Altmann's Treasure Trove, New York.

 

7⅝ inches (19.3 cm) high x 4⅜ inches (11cm) diameter.
